What causes Musculoskeletal Pain?

The causes of MSK pain are varied. Muscle tissue can be damaged from the wear and tear of daily activities. Trauma to an area (jerking movements, car accidents, falls, fractures, sprains, dislocations and direct blows to the muscle) can cause musculo-skeletal pain. Other causes of pain include postural strain, repetitive movements, overuse, and prolonged immobilisation.

How can Physiotherapy help?

It is widely acknowledged that Physiotherapy is a safe, effective and efficient way to treat spinal pain. A personalised treatment plan for your particular condition will be put in place by our fully trained and insured physiotherapists.

Scientific evidence shows that physiotherapy treatment is an effective treatment for both acute (new) and chronic (longterm) neck and back pain.

How do we treat Musculoskeletal Pain?

While management of some MSK conditions may require specialist and/or surgical care, many MSK conditions can be managed in Primary Care through a combination of interventions, such as exercise, and weight management.

Our physiotherapists have specialised in the diagnosis and treatment of MSK conditions—particularly neck and back pain. We also work with you to gain a better understanding of the problem or injury that you have.

We help identify causative factors of your problem and help you to learn how to minimise these factors going forwards. This, in turn, helps provide long-lasting results for your current conditions, while also helping prevent a re-occurance of the problem in the future.

Examples of MSK disorders include back and neck pain, tendinopathy, ligament strain, bursitis, pulled muscles, and other issues.
