Dry needling - patient gets treatment on his shoulder

What is Dry Needling?

Dry Needling is an invasive procedure in which a solid filament needle is inserted into the skin and muscle directly at a myofascial trigger point.

Dry Needling differs from Acupuncture in that Dry Needling is based on the principles of Western medicine, whereas Acupuncture is based on the principles of Eastern/Chinese medicine.

How does it work?

Inserting needles into Trigger Points can cause favourable biochemical changes which assist in reducing pain. Dry Needling may elicit so-called local ‘Twitch’ responses, which are spinal cord reflexes. Getting local twitch responses with Dry Needling is the first step in breaking the Pain Cycle.

Our Dry Needling Treatment

We use Dry Needling is part of a multi-modal treatment plan. In our treatment sessions we combine Dry Needling with manual therapy, exercise prescription and patient education in order to ensure the best possible treatment outcome for our clients.

Qualifications & Safety

Bernadette Moroney is a member of the David G Simons Academy of Dry Needling.

The needles that we use are individually packed and only used once before being discarded as hazardous waste products.

What can Dry Needling treat?

Dry Needling can be used to effectively treat and manage a wide variety of musculo-skeletal problems including, but not limited to:

  • Neck and Back pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Buttock pain

Dry Needling—

Dry needling

The most painful experience that I ever loved! Have you ever heard of a good pain ... well, that's exactly what dry needling is ... the needle hits the trigger point and you feel the pain in your tight muscles wash away. This is by far the best treatment that I have found to help relieve the tension in my neck and shoulders. I would highly recommend Clare Physiotherapy Clinic for Dry Needling.
