Your Questions Answered

What is a Chartered Physiotherapist?

Chartered Physiotherapists are health professionals allied to the medical profession, and carry University Degrees

They use physical means of treatment such as joint mobilisation/manipulation techniques, exercise prescription, electrotherapy and therepeutic massage.

Physiotherapy is heavily reliant on evidence based research. It is a scientific approach which aims to maximise mobility and quality of life using clinical diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

The title ‘Physiotherapist’ alone is not evidence of a formal qualification in Physiotherapy. All Chartered Physiotherapists have completed a University degree course, are members of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP), and are bound by a professional code of ethics.

Check for the initials MISCP after the physiotherapist's name. Physiotherapists and Physical Therapists must be Chartered in order to be recognised by insurance companies and Revenue. Chartered Physiotherapists are the only physiotherapists that are employed by HSE and private hospitals.

Do I need a referral letter from my GP?

It is not necessary to have a GP or specialist letter of referral to access our services. You can make an appointment by calling us on 065 684 0931 or via our contact page.

Should you have a query about whether you should attend for physiotherapy or attend your GP first, leave a message with our receptionist to request a call back. Alternatively, you can message us and we will respond directly.

Over our last 28 years in business, we have built strong working relationships with consultants and GPs throughout the region, and much of our business comes from these sources. Where appropriate, we always liaise with your GP.

How much does treatment cost?

Our treatment Fees are €70 per consultation.

You may reduce your Physiotherapy fees as follows:

  • Recover costs from your medical insurance. Chartered Physiotherapy is eligible for refund with VHI, Laya, Irish Life Health, and other providers.   Check your policy for specific terms and conditions. Reimbursement rates vary depending on your policy, but as much as €40 per treatment may be reclaimable.
  • Tax relief is available on all Chartered Physiotherapy costs. As an example, if you claim €40 from your health insurer, the remaining €30 is subject to tax relief.

What should I wear?

  • Please wear loose comfortable fitting clothes and flat non-slip shoes.
  • Tracksuit type clothing is a good choice, but is not essential.
  • Shorts are ideal for clients receiving treatment to their lower body.
  • For female clients receiving treatment to their upper body, a vest top with spaghetti-string straps is ideal.

How long does a session last?

A physiotherapy session at this clinic typically lasts 40 minutes.
